Our work, and the thinking behind it

Every photograph here is a Sitellight project. The captions point out the design decision: depth, beam control, reflections, glare control.

Landscape lighting

Royal and foxtail palms uplit beside a stone entry arch
Narrow beams carry light up the full height of the trunks into the canopies, while the entry is left soft so the palms frame it rather than compete with it.
Leaning coconut palms lit in front of a residence
Depth in three layers: low planting in the foreground, the crossing coconut palms as the subject, and the façade kept quieter behind them.
A grove of mixed palms lit at the front of a residence
A grove lit as a group. Each palm has its own source, so the canopies read individually against the sky instead of merging into one bright mass.
A curved planting bed of palms, bromeliads and agave lit at blue hour
Light placed inside the bed, not in front of it. The agave and bromeliads are picked out as specimens, and no fixture is visible from the lawn.
A specimen Bismarck palm uplit in warm white against a fence
A specimen Bismarck lit from close to the trunk so the light rakes up through the silver fronds. The fence behind is left in a low wash so the palm stands off it.

Pools and water

Uplit palms and planting reflected in a dark pool
With the pool left dark, the water becomes a mirror and the lit palms appear twice. No light source is visible from the terrace.
A queen palm and pygmy date palms reflected in a pool at dusk
Two subjects and nothing else. Lighting only the palms beyond the fence gives the pool a reflection and the view a place to end.
Pool and spa with uplit palms along a hedge
Palms lit against a clusia hedge give the pool a backdrop. Warm white in the landscape holds its own beside the color of the pool light.

The same property, two settings

Cool White Color
A color-capable screen-enclosure system in its everyday cool-white setting and in color. Color is a capability we offer; warm-white landscape lighting remains the core of our work.
